Eros Ramazzotti

Eros Luciano Walter Ramazzotti is one of the most popular artists in Italy. This Italian singer and songwriter is known simply as Eros Ramazzotti and is well known in the English-speaking European countries and also in most of the Spanish-speaking world.

With help from his father Rodolfo, a pianist, the young Eros wrote songs. He ended taking a training program for a book-keeper after failing the admission examination to the musical conservatory.

In 1981, he participated in a music contest called Voci Nuove di Castrocaro with a song written by himself "Rock 80". His first contract was with DDD and Eros had to move to Milan.

His first single "Ad un amico" was not successful, but soon after he met Renato Brioschi who helped him find his first success. In 1984, Ramazzotti participated at Sanremo Festival with his song "Terra promessa", winning the competition for the category "Newcomers".

Ramazzotti took part at the Sanremo Festival again, this time with "Una storia importante" a song from his debut album Cuori agitati. In 1986 he released his second album Nuovi eroi and with one of his most memorable singles, "Adesso tu" belonging to this album, he participated for third time at Sanremo Festival where he won the overall competition.

In 1987 he released his third album In certi momenti, a year thereafter he released a seven-track mini-album Musica . His fifth album was entitled In ogni senso and was released in April 1990. His 1991 double-CD release Eros in Concert was followed by another long tour including the concert Ramazzotti.

In 1993, he released Tutte storie. This work helped to Ramazzotti get his contract with BMG International. On May 13 1996, his album Dove c' musica was released, this was the first album completely self-produced by Eros.

In October 1997, appeared his Greatest Hits CD which contained "Quanto amore sei" and "Ancora un minuto di sole" as well as several previous hits in a reworked format. In 1998 he released the live CD Eros Live; in 1999 Ramazzotti collaborated with Andrea Bocelli for Bocelli's album Sogno.

His ninth studio album was entitled 9 and was released on May 30 2003. On October 28 2005, Ramazzotti's 10th album Calma Apparente was released on the day of his birthday.

On May 22 2009, was released his album Ali e radici which contained 11-track material and was produced by Eros.

Ramazzotti was married to Swiss model and actress Michelle Hunziker from 1998 to 2002; they have a daughter, Aurora.
